Skiing

I have been skiing since I was 18 months old and I’ve continued skiing every year since then. My parents introduced me so earlier because they had been ski patrollers for 20 years before having me and continued patrolling after I was born. They had met while skiing and have always kept up with it.

Snowboard

Far more of my dad’s sport than mine for a long time. Inspired by my father at one point, I had tried it once for a lesson when I was around 10 years old and found myself highly frustrated with my own balance to which I gave up early on learning it.

More recently, as in winter of 2019, I felt inspired to take a shot at learning how to snowboard again. This time, it was with my snowsports instructor coworkers during winter holiday break after we al got done with our busy shifts. We set up our rental boards and went out into the hill and I had a far easier experience this time around.

From there I picked up a recreational passion for it and enjoyed how it gave me a sport where I could still go onto the hill without it feeling like I was still working a shift. There were no expectations on me for working and teaching how to snowboard and it gave me a nice break from work.
